Enhanced Performance
Break though that plateau and recover faster
“The performance improvements are substantial. I love everything about this technology.”
“Players noted that they felt a drop in their heart rate and a better control of breathing rate after using the device. This is a huge improvement and benefit to giving players a level of control over their physiological state during matches. “
Strength & Conditioning
In order to stimulate a training effect when weight training, for example, we apply a load to the muscles for sufficient repetitions to cause performance to drop below the initial fitness base line.
After a recovery period the work capacity recovers to or, over a period, above the initialbase level. This is known as super-compensation as illustrated on the right.
When we over-train or, more commonly, under-recover the body does not recover to the starting point and performance capacity deteriorates. In addition, we are likely to experience a lot of muscle soreness the day or two days after training (delayed onset muscle soreness or DOMS).
Mid-match recovery
The journey toward effective use of palm cooling technology for mid-activity or half time recovery began when the US Military commissioned Stanford University to explore how soldiers could manage heat stress. The challenge for Stanford scientists was to try to combat the heat load caused by wearing personnel protective gear in environmentally challenging conditions while often enduring high levels of physical activity.
Over a period Stanford developed the Stanford Cooling Glove which took advantage of the body’s ability to dissipate heat through the palms of the hands – one of the body’s main heat exchangers
(the other two being the soles of the feet and the upper face – basically the non-hairy parts of the body).
Whether heat stress is due to the need to wear protective gear, such as in the military or in firefighting, or a high ambient temperature or the level of physical activity in professional sport, for example, palm cooling can significantly delay over-heating. As a consequence, individuals will perform better both physically and mentally.
Weight Loss
Successful weight loss and fitness gains in overweight and obese individuals is due to the appropriate diet combined with a calorie burning exercise program.
Dr Simms of Stanford University discovered the palm cooling accelerated fitness and weight loss gain in obese sedentary women. In addition, the individuals exposed to palm cooling had a much lower drop out rate.
Overweight and obese subjects find it more difficult to exercise and lose weight as they get too hot more quickly which reduces their ability to continue with the activity and is a factor in demoralising the individuals before the benefit.
